Drone Startup, Prevision makes Live Image Maps in Real Time More and more, what we see on the big screen is not as far off into the future as we may think. Prevision, a 2018 GENIUS NY finalist has developed one of the world’s most sophisticated 3D mapping systems that looks like it came straight out of Tony Stark’s lab in an Avengers movie. “Prevision wants you to see the world live in 3D from any angle or perspective, with such detail that you can measure actual distance between objects,” said Co-Founder, Greg Walker. “We can make maps of your city, neighborhood or work-site hundreds of times faster than leading commercial products at an affordable cost. Think of it similar to a LIVE GoogleEarth in 3D!” We can all agree that Google Earth changed how we look at the world but, it is really just the beginning. It only takes into consideration past data from static images, typically updated every 1 to 3 years. Now, imagine if you can open your mobile device and view a selected area in real-time. Zoom in on any point, track anything moving, “in fact, several people can do this to multiple areas in the scene simultaneously,” says Walker. Prevision’s software even allows users to play the data backward to see where moving objects, such as vehicles, people or animals came from. Their custom designed payload, containing patented software and camera system is so small, it can be mounted to a handheld drone.
Use cases for this technology are limitless and can be applied to many different markets and aspects of our day to day lives. Currently, Prevision has traction in security operations and oil and gas production. Their value comes from the massive, real-time visual data they can provide over large areas; data which can be manipulated to show patterns. The Prevision team has worked in various capacities within the unmanned aircraft space for more than 25 years. There founders are comprised of United States Air Force and Army Officers as well as affiliates of NASA. Prevision’s technology can generate 3D maps in only minutes compared to the competition who can take up to several hours. Using drones to capture their data allows Prevision to use much less resources, reduce costs and to fly when and where larger aircrafts cannot. Once again, Sci-fi and reality are coming closer together and Prevision stands above the rest in bringing the future of real-time 3D mapping to life.
