AutoModality, a GENIUS NY team, is hiring in Syracuse

AutoModality, a member of the inaugural GENIUS NY cohort and winner of a $1 million prize in 2017, is enjoying rapid growth over the past year. Their “perceptive navigation” solution uses unmanned systems to place drones in areas that would otherwise be difficult, dangerous or impossible to access – such as tunnels, bridges and warehouses. AutoModality’s innovative technology features the ability to follow terrain, sense and avoid obstacles, and track and recognize objects in real time. Their solution can also operate in GPS-denied environments.

The startup has offices in Syracuse, NY and San Rafael, CA. As home to the world’s largest UAS-focused startup accelerator, GENIUS NY, Syracuse and Central New York are at the epicenter of a burgeoning UAS industry thanks to:

This UAS ecosystem makes Syracuse a great place for startups in the UAS sector, and job creation in the CNY area is a key goal of the GENIUS NY program. AutoModality is excited to announce several new job opportunities in Syracuse for developers with 5 – 20 years of related experience:  

• Client Application Developer – Requirements include a BS in Computer Science or Engineering, expertise in Java, Android app development and solid documentation and communication skills. Will be responsible for assisting in overall system design; developing requirements and testing prototypes; and creation of a DJI Mobile SDK application for Android

 

• Embedded Linux Engineer – Requirements include expertise in package management, CMake and real-time Linux, along with a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or engineering. Responsibilities will include modifying/replacing the existing Ubuntu distribution for real-time applications; owning the Linux-based computing platform; and providing post-production support

 

• Embedded Programmer – Will assist the engineering team in overall system design; review code; and design and test real-time embedded software. Interested applicants should have a BS in Computer Science or engineering, and experience in programming systems with ROS as well as C++

 

• Mechanical/Manufacturing Engineer – Self-directed, creative problem solvers with experience in 3D modeling and 3D printers as well as an undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline are encouraged to apply for this role. Responsibilities include develop efficient manufacturing processes, and designing specific sub-systems

 

• Senior Robotics Engineer – This hire will provide technical leadership for a team of engineers and work with customers to develop requirements and test prototypes. Applicants should have experience with ROS and C++, familiarity with AI and computer vision is a bonus. A BS degree in Computer Science or engineering is a requirement.
