Airbus Aerial Visits GENIUS NY Teams

This week Airbus Aerial's CEO and Director of Flight Operations visited the GENIUS NY teams to learn more about their companies and give advice on business development, investor relations and help connect the teams with industry experts. ​

Founded in 2017, Airbus Aerial delivers data solutions to customers to empower better service, reduce costs, and save lives through new products and services. Airbus Aerial utilizes aerospace and UAV technology to deliver data to its customers, allowing them to focus on what matters most. 

Jesse Kallman, CEO of Airbus Aerial gave a wealth of information and advice to the GENIUS NY teams. In his early years he worked for Airware at the Y Combinator, a seed accelerator in California. Airware produces enterprise drones which combine hardware, on-aircraft and mobile software, and cloud services. Kallman explained the importance of an accelerator - for its exposure to expertise on marketing, hiring and talent, investor relations and spending money - and how his company learned the value of networking with the other startups while at the Y Combinator. 

GENIUS NY, much like the Y Combinator, is an accelerator that invests $3 million into six companies to help them grow and be successful so that, down the road, they can raise money on a larger scale. The CentertState CEO program is funded by Empire State Development and located in New York State, an area that has committed $250 million to UAS development. 

Airbus Aerial got to experience New York State's UAS ecosystem which included a visit to the New York UAS Test Site and with the NUAIR Alliance. Kallman noted, "GENIUS NY has the huge advantage of being in a state that invests thousands in unmanned systems. New York is putting tons of money into this industry – I have not seen this kind of investment anywhere else in the country. It's great because entrepreneurs go where the money is and GENIUS NY has it."
