About Central New York
Centrally Located
Central New York (CNY) is a great place to live, work, learn, enjoy the outdoors in all seasons, and raise a family. The cost of living and cost to start a business is significantly lower than many of the larger innovation hubs in other parts of the Unites States. Located in the center of New York State, CNY is at the intersection of two major highways (I-90 and I-81), which provides easy transport to the Mid West, New England, and the Mid Atlantic as well as Canada, and of course, New York City.

In addition to easy access, The Tech Garden in CNY is one of New York State's ten designated Hotspots - a designation that allows qualifying businesses to receive support and tax incentives.

Surrounding Environment
Picture
The abundance of clean water, clean air, and greenery provides one of the best places in the nation to enjoy outdoor recreation like camping, fishing, hunting, boating, hiking, skiing, and biking. World renown destinations such as the Adirondacks, Catskills, Finger Lakes, and Great Lakes are day trips or weekend getaways.

Downtown Syracuse
Syracuse is revitalizing its former glory with renewal of architecturally significant historic buildings, renovation and re-purposing, and upgrading and new construction. All of this is drawing businesses to Downtown Syracuse to be a part of the momentum. Syracuse is the center of the region and where people come to live, work, and play. Downtown Syracuse has been the heart of economic development since the days of the Erie Canal and that drive for prosperity continues into the present.

Entrepreneurs will find a close knit business community with resources and connections that are easy to find. And after a long day's work, places like Armory Square provide a perfect place to unwind and enjoy the evening.

Talent Pool
CNY possesses significant assets that enable emerging and established technology sectors, enhanced infrastructure for innovation, and expanding entrepreneurial networks.  With an extraordinary network of 35 colleges and universities, the region has one of the highest concentrations of college students in the nation with an enrollment of approximately 140,000 students.
These students are connected to the innovation and entrepreneurial ecosystems via several connectors, such as The Tech Garden's Student Sandbox and Syracuse University's Blackstone Launchpad.  Startups also take advantage of the many intern and co-op programs offered by the region's universities to help supplement business development costs.
